well i broke down and bought the 317..it does have a series 2 engine but i cant find an oil filter..i have seen the set ups for sale did they not all have these?..just an option?... where does it bolt on too?..thanks for all the help and advice..and im still looking for a 48 deck to fit this..just the shell would work as i have one but its pretty sad shape..thanks for all the previous advice

Try the weekendfreedommachine.com website; There is a kit you can put together for an oil filter. You can also find a deck for it there too.

The 317 W/Kohler engine did"nt have the oil filter"s setup. There wasn"t enought room to mount one. I have seen one on ebay this past week that one was mounted on a 317.

If this is the same one you and I are thinking about that has about 2-½ ft of hose and the body looks like it’s made of aluminum and takes the screw on filter that sold on ebay? I was thinking it could be mounted alone the right hand side of frame toward the backend of the tractor where would be less heat.
