i'm looking for a solid mower for my rocky 1 acre property.

I found locally listed this 1975 Sears Onan twin cylinder mower for 450 bucks. im wondering how easy parts are to get for these older models and how reliable it is vs. a newer Craftsman mower.

thanks for you help

Te

I went and looked at it, its in pretty rough shape. looks like its been sitting in the same spot for about 10 years. He says it would run, but couldnt find the battery.

i dont think its worth much more than 200 bucks, and just a parts tractor.

I have several 6 speed Sears Suburban tractors from the 1960s I use regularly for mowing. They are simple and durable. Routine replacement of belts, bearings and blades are the main expense. Sears no longer has the blades, but other suppliers still carry them. I find it more practical to repower with a new engine rather than do overhauls. Northern Tool is a good engine source. I would choose an old Suburban over a new throw-away in a heartbeat. On a 1975 model, I would be most concerned about the condition of the metal in the mower deck housing. If the metal is good, and there are no other attachments, I would prefer to buy it around $300.
