This is a mustard yellow 14/6 w/techumseh engine. Was mowing the other night and power just started dwindling, little bit of black smoke, then she died. I changed out the plug, no results. I'm going to try some either tonight see if it makes a difference.

You should check for fire to the plug and if there's good fire you probably have a fuel problem. Could be dirt, rust or if there's an inline fuel filter it may need replacing. I would go easy on the ether. Hal

Used a touch of either last night and it started right up and ran for as long as I wanted it to. Think a carb rebuild is in my future.
