Fella offered to sell me what he claims to be a 1937 Sears rider mower. Has a rope start model 19 briggs on it. Is it possible to be a 37??. I would think possibly a 57. TIA

Dave

The model 19 Briggs engines were produced from 1957 to 1965. Send me the engine serial number and I can tell you the year.

John

1937? Theres was not a lot out there in power mowers back then. And I don't recall Sears having their name on anything until much later. Sears sold David Bradley 2wheel tractors and later riders before Sears labeling and such."Could"be an old DB,but I don't think they go back"that" many yrs.

Yeah Joe, I don't know where they got their info, but is newer than that. I would guess looking at it it was built early sixties or late fifties. Pretty crude, but the first wheel horse and deeres were also in that time frame. It has a recoil start on it and a one speed fwd and rev. Has a three blade mower deck belt driven. Also a front blade. I bought it, although I sure didn't need it. I don't know how to post pics yet, but will see if I can get some on here.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Joe,
It looks like the Suburban 7.25 but doesn't have the electric start. Thanks a lot for the link.
