1977 Speedex 1430 need BS points cover and engine info

Hi just bought a Speedex 1430. Was told it was from 1977 and that the engine is a 16hp Briggs & Stratton engine.

The engine has an electric start and a pull start wheel. There is one spark plug on top of the engine. The exhaust and drive pully are to the right and the pull start is to the left.

I"ve noticed the cover that goes over points and condensor on the front of the engine is missing. Also I would like to purchase a tune-up and repair manual for the engine, but I don"t know the type.

1) Does someone know where I can get the cover/housing for the points?

2) Can someone tell me what type of engine this is so I can get the right manual?

Engine made April, 1976 You should be able to have you local B&S dealer crder you a point cover.

Have you closely examined the "tin" shrouding around the flywheel for the model, serial and code numbers? They are either lightly stamped into the "tin", or there is/was an aluminum foil sticker on there with the numbers printed on it.

I have several of the covers laying around, if no one else has one handy.

The numbers were right on the cover as you said. I had to use a magnifying glass to read them. The s/n I got was 326437 0213-01 7604201. I see what this gets me. Thanks again. SF
