My clutch drum is badly worn, from where the pad rubs against it. This is the 8 inch metal dum. I have heard that it can be switched side for side, but might want to get a new one...what is recommmended. WHo sells the drum and how much?

Jimbob, those 50-520 clutch pulley drums do seem to wear pretty easily with deep grooves.. That clutch pulley CAN"T be swapped around & will have to be used the way it is, or refaced, or replaced..

There is no real reason it can’t be used with the worn ridges in it as the new brake pad will seat in to those worn depressions in a while.. If you are worried about the looks you can either weld up the pulley & reface it on a lathe or if not worn too bad just reface it without welding first [I have done it both ways]—Remember if you reface it & plan on using a flat belt that pulley MUST be crowned on the outer surface so the belt will stay centered..

As far as buying a new [that would be extremely expensive even IF you could find one] & on buying a used-- that would be in line price wise but most will have at least some grooving in them..

If you are looking for a good used just place some adds like in this site’s wanted section or start calling local tractor scrap yards, or star visiting tractor shows & swap meets.. Those pulleys are out there just not everywhere..
