I have the rear cover off my 52 G. I have the axils and bull gears out. I scraped quite a bit of sludge off the bottom of the case. what would be best to clean the other gears and rest of case with. I have a sprayer that you hook compressed air to and stick a hose in your desired cleaner. would you use the orange degreaser or cleaning solvent or maybe diesel? thanks for any help

High-pressure/high-temperature washer, ideally. Plain hot water is one of the best cleaners there is, and although you'll likely get dirty in the process, it does a good job. I frequently use a power-washer to clean engine blocks, transmission cases and large powertrain components. Wash long enough that the parts get good and warm, blow-dry with compressed air and rust is not a worry. Diesel fuel, solvents and the like clean well, but also contribute to an even larger mess because in addition to the gunk you're washing off, you're adding more gunk to the mix.

Kerosene or Diesel will soften the sludge some and let more come off later and leaves a oily finish so rust can't set in. Other cleaners will work but leave it too dry (naptha) or wet (water based) for rust.

One option is diesel fuel in a garden pump-up sprayer.
