My dad has a powershift 4040 that will leak oil out of the left side of the 2 point. It is the top part of the 2 point arm where it goes into the housing. The deere mechanics say that is not possible because that part is not under pressure. It is a totally random leak that comes and goes but when it comes it leaves a trail behind the tractor. Any ideas????? ?

It's not uncommon for a rockshaft seal to leak there. As was mentioned, o-rings and lip seals do the sealing. If the seals get old and tired, there is excessive play in the rockshaft bushings, or the oil holes that allow oil to drain from between the o-ring and lip seal get plugged up with crud, they can easily leak. Apparently those Deere mechanics haven't had too many rockshaft housings off, because they don't know what they're talking about.

If the inner Oring in the rockshaft housing is bad, the dust seal where your leak is , will have charge pump pressure on it.

Buy a red tractor? Why? Because they are cheap? Did it ever occur to you, micro-brain, that there's a reason "red" tractors are cheap? Lousy hydraulic systems are just one of the long list of reasons "red" tractors are cheap.
