it will not fit a 6-2 powerblock or a late styled tractor it fits an early styled or unstyled tractor

Early styled, as in thru 488000, 1939-1940. Those already had that head on them. It WILL NOT fit early styled after SN488000.

I guess you are also selling a A587R head?

I'm curious about how the flat head will increase compression. All unstyleds used that same head, so it wont change the compression any on an unstyled tractor.

If you meant it would increase the compression on a styled tractor, set that head on the power block you have and let us know what you find.

It was a aftermarket block that the bore was increased about a 1/2" and was domed at the top to increase the compression. It kind of made a G out of the A, B into the A, and the G into a D.

I think it was an after-market block to increase the stroke of the motor.

Forgive my ignorance, I have always heard of the term "Power Block" and wondered exactly what it is, was it a factory option, and how can one visually differenciate between it and a regular block?

A power block was marketed by Tractor Supply Co. It was made for the B/50, A/60, and G/70 series of two cylinders. It can be identified by the raised casting letters on the top of the block "POWER BLOCK" and the series- example is "6-1" which is a block that is designed to fit a 1940 thru 1947 A (488,000-584,000). If the series # is 5 it is for the B/50 depending on the second number if the series designation. if it is a 6 it's for the A/60 series, and a 7 is for the G/70 series. The 5 series has a 5" bore, the 6 series has a 6" bore, and the 7 series has a 6.5" bore. That's it in a nutshell, but there's a lot more info about these. Mike
