I am in process of rebuilding my 49B w/power block installed. I have the block and pistons back in, but wonder what is the right spark plug to use with this configuration. Everything else will be stock stuff. Any comments would be helpful

Thanks

My $0.01 worth. ANYTHING BUT CHAMPION. Didn't they go out of busines? They should have! I can put champions in my 2 cyl deeres and hope to get 8 hours before they foul. Autolites, can't even remember when I had to buy a new one, they are still working.

You'll get a million different answers, none of which are necessarily right, just opinion. My opinion: If you must use Champions, go with a D23, otherwise my first choice would be a 386 or 388 Autolite.

Thanks Todd. It'll be interesting to see what suggestions I get. In my book they called for an AC88L which appears to be the hotest 88series plug, but then again this is for stock block. I know the power block combustion chamber and compression ratio have to have some impact on what is the right plug to run. Thanks again, Todd

I have had no luck at all with the Champion Plugs in my JD-A puller with a Powerblock, they foul in no time at all. I and many other 2 cylinder tractorpullers use the AC-88's that you spoke about with no missing or fouling of the plugs. The AC plugs work for me.

Thanks to all for the help. It really did help because often the parts store will do a cross reference and give you whatever plug they have that crosses. I will stay away from the Champions for sure, and again thanks for your comments.

Jim
