I was wondering if a Massey 65 Diesel can handle a 7' 1150 pound Woods ag mower without front end lifting off the ground. I want to mow 14 acres of horse pasture..people tell me to drop down to a 6' mower...please give me some good advice..thanks, Chris

i have just purchased a 7' bushhog brand mower for my 275 i am looking for front suitcase weights now it is a little light in the front. if you are only mowing pasture nothing real heavy { 1" or less} look at an AGRI-CUT mower they are good for grass and small trees. the construction is lighter and the price is alot less around $1,000. i just paid $2,000 for my 7' . I did mow 20 acres with a 2000 ford with a five foot rhino s5 it did a great job. if you have the time go small so you have the power reserve to cut tall grass. i finished cutting ten acres sericia that was 3' tall i did not have enough power with a 5'. My golden rule is cover your tracks the narrower the better. if you have any questions drop me a line

Chris,

For only 14 acres, I wouldn't recommend a 7' mower. Primarily the reason to not use a 7' mower is that you will have more problems with either scalping or the corners digging in.

I would prefer a 6' mower which is bad enough for scalping and digging-in at the corners.

I would only recommend a mower that large if the area is totally flat.

You'll not save that much time for only 14 acres.
