Always liked the looks of MF 165.Never was around one.As a matter of fact there was a customer of the Deere dealer I worked for who had one.His doctor told him if he continued to drive it,it would cripple his back for life. Were they that hard of a riding tractor? This is an honest inquiry, not a color war.So give me the good, the bad and the ugly on that model please. Thanks

We bought our 165 in 1980, used(it's a '68 model), me or my dad have used it ever since without any breakdown. It has approx. 3200 original hrs on it, no overhaul(not sure what the recommended o/h is on the Perkins diesel, 5000 hrs?).

I recently replaced wiring harnesses & adjusted dual clutch & position control linkage(thanks to Big Deans advice). The engine has never failed to start.

I've heard of problems w/ pto drive line breakage, multipower pump failure, but we've had no problems an adjustment wouldn't fix.

The only thing I would change on ours is the steering linkage. It has always wondered, doesn't like straight lines.

As far as ride, I think standard equipment was a spring/shock suspension seat. I've just replaced the cushions, but the suspension still works.

Hope this helps.

Jeff
