I am looking at a 175 gas massey. It starts real good. Has 2500 hr on it. One rear tire needs replacing right away. Power steering, front tires good. was wondering if $4000.00 is a good price for this tractor. I am checking the sn to see what year but the guy says it is late 60's. Has power amp high low. dual remotes. also comes with a nice 3 point grader blade.

That tractor in WV would fetch 5500-6000, if not more. Your 135 is still around 35-4500. Good Luck.

Here in Western NY the last massey I saw sell at auction was a mint 180D went for $3000 I just paid $4900 for a good 1130. Nobody likes massey round here to bad for them.

Four grand seems a little pricey for a 62hp gas tractor of 60's vintage with a bad tire. With gas prices what they are I would stay away from a gas tractor that size. I wouldn't give any more than $2500. Hopefully the multipower is in good shape and remember it freewheels in low. On the other hand 175's are tough tractors and will out work any tractor their size.

Does it have the Continental 206 engine or the Perkins 236 gas? Parts can be difficult for that particular Continental.

I am not sure that is why I posted this. Hoping to find out the good and the bad of the 175. I own a 135 but would like to have a little more hp.

I think he was asking because of parts avalability - Since you have a MF 135 I am sure you know it came with 3 different types of Gas Engines - Two Continentals, the Z 134 and Z 145 and the Perkins A 152 as well as the Diesel.

So what I think he's getting at is, if its a Continental (like my 135...) it might be more difficult to obtain parts for. That is always something to consider - my tractor had the Z 145 Engine and I drove all over Ohio trying to get a replacement block.

Overall, any Massey can kick the heck out of another tractor in terms of fuel consumption and with the right variation an incredible aftermarket part avalability. Virtually anything interchanges between the other models of 100 series except some of the sheet metal.
