Is there a cheap conv. to go from 6v to 12v? Is there a starter from another application that would work? A 12 gen will be no problem.

I agree with Charles Hart, that there is no need to change starters and the polarity won't matter for it when you change to negative ground, Just don't crank it for long periods of time. On the coil, I recommend changing to a 12v coil, they are much cheaper than the rare 6v coils. You will have to change the lead to the distributor points to the negative terminal of the coil.

There is no need to change starter. 12v gen probably
neg grouned vs. 6v pos grnd so if you want amp guage towork right you need to reverse
the wires you will need a new voltage regulator matched to the generator. as for the rest
you can either change to 12v coil and lights or find a resistor that can be added to drop voltage there to 6v
