My opinion? The best utility tractor ever built! I've owned a 1971 Perkins diesel, 8-speed 150 since it was new. They're reliable, fuel efficient, simple to operate, simple to work on. Parts, both OEM and aftermarket are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. The tractor handles well, has good power to weight ratio, and is well balanced. They run quiet and with very little vibration. They are everything good about the classic 135 and a little more. The 150 uses the same basic drivetrain as a 135, with all the better steering, heavier axle, and heavier front support of the 165. The heavier axle and support give the 150 about 9" longer wheelbase than a 135, lending more stability with a heavy load on the hitch. The added legnth makes the tractor handle better with wheels being set wider, also stabilizing the tractor. The front end adds about 400lbs (over the 135) to also make it handle heavy rear loads much better. The 150 has the air filter (type and location) of the 165, as well as the bigger fuel tank. The 150 uses the larger capacity radiator of the 165 also. The heavier steering bolster provides a great mounting point for front end loaders or mid-mounted cultivators. I can pull a 2X14" plow @ 5mph(+)in hard ground on 1 gallon of fuel per hour. Bush hog with a 6' cutter in tall weeds and grass on less than a gallon per hour. The Perkins engine is without a doubt, the cheapest engine to rebuild on this planet, should that ever need to happen. Only drawback I can see with the 150? They didn't build nearly enough of them.
