I have 1943 2n when first start it up the oil pressure will go to 40lbs then drop to 5lbs and will fluctuate between 5 and 40 until it warms up. when warms up it will stay at approx 40lbs full throttle ,and 20 lbs at idle, this is after bushhogging for about 2 hrs. my concern is the fluctuating when it is first started. thank you E R Draper Fl.

Two things come to mind.
Worst case senario is you are loosing prime at the pump due to a cracked pick up tube or worn out pump.
Are you sure the gauge is not faulty? Either replace it with a known good gauge or set the gauge face down and soak the inlet in wd-40 or Marvel Mystery Oil and gently (low pressure) blow it out with compressed air.
Do you hear any unusual noises acompanying the oil pressure fluctuation?

Hope this helps.
