Rob..... ...I flunked mindreading, just ask my ex-wife of 32 yrs. There are several pieces of missing information about your N-Tractor. Front or sidemount distributor? 6 or 12 volt convertion? But I'll try to guess. Ruff runnin and backfirin generally a case of "bad sparkies". You replaced ignition points. Believe it or not, the #8 X 3/16 points screw can wearout and you won't beable to tighten them down enuff to hold the point gap...bad sparkies. "after it warms up a tad", if'n a tad is 10-15 minutes, its gunked up ignition switch internal contacts...bad sparkies. You can jumper the switch and see if'n goes away. Point gap for frontmount is 0.015 and sidemount is 0.025. Major difference...bad sparkies. Frontmount timing is by removing 2 bolts and distributor to workbench. use 1/4 drill as feeler gauge. Reinstallation is timed by offset tang. Next to impossible to miss-install but guys have been known to use a bigger hammer. Cannot use timeing light, no timing marks....bad sparkies. Sidemount timing can be eather static or timing light at 4* BTDC....bad sparkies. Recommend you get an I&T FO-4 repair manual. Availble at many N-Board sponsors, tractor parts emporiums, www.n-new.com, even Ford/New Holland fer peets stakes, $29 cheep, gettcha 1 and readitt..... ..Dell
