Well, I finally found the N I was looking for. I picked up a side distributor 8n with an original Ford brand rear grader blade. Even the way the deal was finalized was very refreshing.
The asking price was $2450, and I offered $2000 on Tuesday night. The gentleman called on friday afternoon to let me know that no one else had called and that he would sell it to me for the $2000 offer. Here is the best part, he was going to be out of town Friday through Sunday night late. He said he would leave the tractor outside and if I wanted it, to just come pick it up and leave a check on his doorstep!! My wife and I are remodeling our new country home, so I probably could have used the $2K somewhere else, but fixing, tinkering and playing with this tractor is therapy for a stressful job. This is my first experience with an old tractor since I am 28, and these are older than I am. I think I will be ordering a few parts tonight!!

It just shows what great people 8n owners are.On more than one occasion I have got the grand tour of the property and have only met them minutes before to look at a tractor.

Rob,

Enjoy the 8N. Live in Central Maine and deals like you described are still common around here. It makes you feel good about people.

I am 29 and have spent a lot of time with my 2N and 8N in the past 6 years. I am now addicted. Enjoy it. This board will get you through anything. If somebody here can't tell you how to fix it, it can't be fixed!

I also have an old country place I am fixing up and the 8N earns it's keep plowing snow, bush hogging, tilling the garden etc.

Enjoy and good luck!

Don't think that tractor won't come in handy for remodeling. Over the weekend, I moved a dishwasher and a ton of lumber and pvc pipe with my carryall on my 8N.

congratulations rob. good luck with it. a word of caution, however. BE CAREFUL! if you have not used a tractor before, go slow and be safe. i recently had a friend that drove a tractor for years get killed using it. good luck.

Congrats!!! Making an offer worked out well for you. I guess you'll be posting with all those remodeling questions soon. Look forward to them. Also get pictures of the tractor as you fix it up so we can see it. Have fun. and be safe.
