I was just looking at seriel numbers at "Vintage Ford Tractor Resource" and compared them to the I&T FO-4 Service Manual list. This prompted me to go do some checking of seriel numbers in the barn (nothing else to do on a cold, blustery day). So far, none of my tractors straddle any year overlap. Example: Resource says 99003 and up is '42 2N and FO-4 says 99003 to 99046 are '42 9N. There are similar differences in the other 2N years that could make the year arguable to some. Do any of you N'ers have a seriel number that falls in one of these gaps? If so, which year are you calling yours? I won't argue with you, just curious.

In the last 15 years books have published wrong serial# charts for some reason, I think I&T started it, the older Ford charts are correct, the last 9N was 99002 and the first 2N was 99003, they did not overlap.

The reason that I brought it up was that for about 7 or 8 years I have carried a wrinkled and faded copy of the I&T list in my wallet as a reference when looking at a tractor. I guess now I'll replace it with the "Resource"list. I was just curious if anyone else had depended on it.
