Different subject, but I need help. I have a 9n engine which pumps oil into the water system. I havent been able to find the source, I have checked the oil gallery as much as I can. It was getting quit a bit of oil, like a pint a day in the oil. I know the head is (recently) cracked, but it has been doing this for 3 or 4 years, they just flushed the raidiator out weekly. Any help or ideas would be helpful, i'm stumped.

John, Sounds like you have to have the block and head magnafluxed and pressure tested. There may be a internal crack some place. Any good machine shop can do it. If you found one crack in the head there may be another you can't see.

I teach Agricultural Science at a secondary vocational center (Region 9, Wolfeboro,NH)
We try and do one major full rebuild a year as part of a comprehesive program that ranges thru Forest Management, Ag. Mechanics, Horticulture and Welding.

We usually have a two year waiting period to get a machine in with the understanding that the customer pays for all supplies and we can carry the repairs to the level that is required for quality.

Working backwards:
Last year we did a John Deere 350B dozer which is posted in the photo site (basket case to a full restoration). The year before a full restore on a John Deere B. Before that a overhaul on a Farmall C and an 8N. An 9N and 8N to show quality before those.

Next year, two OC-3 dozers ;>

Obviously, I am proud of their work.

Relative to "pointers" on working with students,
please e-mail for further discussion
