MY 1951 8N RUNS FINE BUT IT HAS STARTED PUMPING AIR INTO THE RADIATOR AND THE WATER OUT AND THE VOLUME OF AIR IS GETTING WORSE. I HAD THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED LAST WEEK BUT NO IMPROVEMENT. IN FACT I THINK IT IS WORSE NOW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD WAS FINE AND THAT THERE WERE NO CRACKS IN THE BLOCK OR THE SLEEVES. IT DOES NOT UES ANY OIL AND THERE IS NO ANTIFREEZ IN THE OIL. THIS ENGINE WAS REBUILT 6 YEARS AGO. CAN ANYONE HELP?

I hope you insist that mech/shop makes it right. You might hear that it's not the gasket but don't you beleive it!
Look at the spark plugs and one or more may be 'steamed cleaned' while the others have black or grey deposits. Is there white smoke out the exhaust? When the head comes off one or more cylinders is cleaner then the others and is clearly different. All of this is expected with a blown head gasket.
If this guy is going to try to beat you on this you may need to be there when he opens it up. You can run the head over to a machine shop and they can check it for true while you wait. If the head needs 'shaved' then a real mechanic needs to put it together and not some slug like the guy that missed a warped head in the first place. It's so easy and costs nothing but 2 minutes time (on the outside) to check a head for flat. Do yourself and the next guy a favor and make that mechanic do the job right.
These guys here can tell you exactly what needs to be done to get it right so ask if you want to know. Then see to it that your mechanic does it right.

Bob..... ....This is classic headgasket problem. And dispite having your headgasket replaced last week, I would suggest that your mechanic failed to investigate the potential of a "warped" cylinder head and subsequent need to have the head "skimmed". Fixitt before you have cylinder "hydraulic lock" and really expensive damage to pistons, rods, crankshaft, or rusted rings..... ..... respectfully, Dell
