1946 2N....Barn

I decided to put my '46 2N to work. It has set around "looking pretty" for two years. I was using the rake and I'm getting up pressure on the lever. It is enough for the hydraulics to raise the rake all the way up without me touching the lever, which comes up also.
Truthfully, I have not picked up my manual to read it(Hi, Dell). I just happened to be taking a little break and thought that I would see if anyone has had similar experience.

Your friction disc needs tightened or replaced on the lift lever pivot.

I'll take a look at that this week-end. The upward force seems greater than any force that I have ever applied to the lever, up or down.

You need to install a ZANE THANG position control device for the tractor.

Hi Zane, I've got one, still in the box (next to my hydraulic adjustment tool). :>) I was planning for it to go on another tractor. I've just never experienced such up force on a control lever before. Neither of my other 2 working 2N's have done this and I can't ever remember any 8N doing it, or at least none that I have owned.

Tell me again exactly how the lift acted that seemed to be unusual since you have other Ns you should be familure with what is going on.

Goodmorning, Zane.
The symptoms: I lower the hydraulic lever and get a backfeed pressure trying to move the lever up. If I let go of it mid-range of the quadrant it will come back to the top by itself and raise the implement.
If I force it to the bottom of the quadrant, it will stay there most of the time.
