Calling Zane,
I posted a question on 6-21 about the hydraulics on my 46 2N. You asked me to describe the symtoms but I did not see a reply. Any help?
Unless I hold down on the lever when I lower the rake, it will raise to the top of the quadrant by itself and raise the implement. I can force the lever to the bottom of the quadrant and it may stay, but not necesarily. tia

If you will put a ZANE THANG position control device on the tractor you will have position control and also won't have to worry about fixing the quadrant friction clutch as it is not needed when the devic is installed.

See the link below.

Barnstormer,

I'm not Zane, but it sounds like your cork gasket between the lever and the tractor is either missing or worn out. I made a new one out of heavy gasket material, and it really helped!

Good Luck!

Ron

Ron, After responding to you I see that you are in Illinois. Will you be at the show in Bourbonnais?
A friend from work is comming with me on the 5th and 6th. I'll have a personalized shirt, my ytmag button and some hat that references Ford tractors.

Barnstormer,

I wish. That's a little too far east and north for me. I live just outside of Macomb (west-central), and will have to use all my free time in the near future trimming trees and brush around the ten acres that I maintain. Wish it wasn't so %^&$)##( HOT!! Oh well--summer in Illinois!!

Thanks Ron,
It was suggested that I might have to tighten the castle nut on the handle and I did not get to look at it, yet. I have also drug out my manual (while on coffee break) and may have to make a quadrant adjustment.
I'll try them. Right now, and for the past four days, I've been hauling water for about 100 trees that I transplanted last fall and some are suffering in the unusual heat in Michigan. I have about $2000 invested in transplanting. I don't NEED the tractor at the moment.
