I have just inherited a ford tractor, I have the serial number as best as I can see 11039/5. Could someone tell me what year and model this tractor is??? Thank You, Brian

Brian,

The serial number should start and end with a star (except for the late 8N's which have diamonds) then either 9 or 8 followed by N - capital letter. It took me a year or more before I figured out my serial number. Part of the problem was that the N was so badly struck that only the right side got into the engine casting. And some of the other numbers were not much better. I had to look for the minor differences such as the 3 having a sharp corner at the upper right side.

To help you need to look at the casting date on the block. It will be raised letter and numbers ( two or three) that are cast in. Also if it is an 8N (except for the very first ones) there will also be 8N, 8N-B or 8N-C near the casting date. These cast in letters/numbers are by the starter buldge.

If it's an N-series tractors look for your serial number here.

The number you've given is not a valid number. 9N/2N models begin with a "9N" in the serial number. An 8N model begins with "8N".
