My '47 2N had 1937 Ford automobile front hubs and wheels on it complete with brake drums ! I have seen a couple others like it also .

The wheels were rusted out and I could not find any anywhere . I turned them down to the hub on a lathe , welded on some 1-1/4" thick plate , turned it and drilled for lugs .

It now has modified front hubs and 8N wheels .

It also has a complete 8N hydraulic system on it .

Amazing what has been done to these old tractors over the years !

This may help explain why some 8N's have the 9N, ("2N") hubs. In the 2N tractors, when they came out with front loaders, they needed a heavier front hub. Henece they made the 5 gusset front hub and a 16" wheel to handle the extra weight of the loaders. When the 8N came a long with the 19" wheel and they wanted to install a loader on the tractor, the 2N's was available with the 16" wheel that would fit the 8N. That combination was an option on the 2N's

Had to laugh,I have just the opposite.I have small dia bolt pattern on the front and large bolt dia. in the rear on my 44 2n.Radius rods are I-beam type.I always figured someone found some parts at a junk yard and didn't care if they were original. However the front wheels are homemade to accept 15" car tires.

Yep..... general speculation, Henry and the boys were using up the 2N parts and that is why you have big hole front wheels

Ford specifications 90 psi compression minimum. Take a dry and then wet to determine if bad rings or bad valves. Generally its worn rings and replaceable cylinder sleeves. The engine is made and designed to replace the sleeves. This way the cylinder taper and out of roundness is renewed to original specifications. Its really kinda of hard to run a boreing bar and true the sleeves that are only 0.090 wall thickness anyways..... ..Dell
