You must be looking for something like this:
third party image

This is a '50 8N done by Ron Stauffer of R.L Stauffer, Inc. 7780 S. US 27, Portland, IN 47371, 219-726-4206, fax 219-726-2521. He's selling the conversion kits.
The picture is one of many from Peterson & Beemer's "Originality Guide - Ford N Series Tractors". The book has an entire chapter devoted to Funk conversions and Sherman transmissions. You can get it at any of the major online book stores for about $20.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

the "archives"??? at top of this most excellent N-Board? This topic has been addressed many times.

The original Funk V-8 conversion kits were only produced for about 250 units. Records were lost in a factory fire so it is hard to verify.

Most Funk kits were for the 6 cylinder flathead truck engine which was a low RPM torque monster needed for plowing.

Ron Stauffer (219-726-4206) is currently listed as producing V-8 conversion kits, not only for Ford flathead V-8s but also (gasp) Chevy V-8s too. Its amaizing what cubic money can do, But for the price and effort involved, you can get a "better tractor" except for the "braggin' rights" (grin)..... ..Dell
