My wife has just donated my large black horse to the RCMP. She will be standing on guard for thee somewhere in the Ottawa area, or she may pull a carraige. In the meantime we got six sheep for the dog to practice hearding. BC Mike C horseless but not sheepless in Kelowna BC.

She asked me first, she did not trade for the sheep, a well bred border collie. The horse is a dutch warmblood and she tends toward the heavy side of the breed. She has never traded for money. We traded another horse more suited for cross country eventing for this girl. The previous owner ( a friend ) got her in lew of training fees. She is a little heavy for what we want and was not really happy cantering down the trails with our other horse. She would look good in harness or standing on patrol so my wife got the idea of donating her. So once again the horse has traded for no money exchanged. The RCMP take excellent care of their horses so it will be like horse heaven for our girl who is 10. We got the sheep on loan to help with the training for the dog. The sheep would have been cut wrapped and frozen this winter so they are getting an extra lease on life. The dog traces her ancestry back to the border country in England where her grandad was an international champion. Her dad just won at the Calgary Stampede and at an event in Calfornia. But this is learning days for my wife and it is driving her to distraction. I hope the sheep the dog and my wife survive. As for me I have had to put up page wyre on all the fences to keep the little guys ( six ) in. We are used to having cows. Sheep are very polite in comparison. BC Mike C, taking a break from the last fence job. This just in: There is talk of a round pen.
