Was thinking I need one range hotter plugs for Herb our 9N. They fouled a bit a month ago but the gas had gone a bit flat in the carb. Still there was a bit of fouling on the plugs. I thought I had the Autolite but they are Motorcraft AL82. Any suggestions for what would be one range hotter than these. The 9N runs fine and puffs a little smoke. Thank you, BC Mike C

I have tried the H10,H12 The hotter AC the hotter Motorcraft, but all around for longer service and cleaner burning on the plug tip,the Autolite 437 worked best for me.No question about it. Good Luck R.M. In AL.

Hi Mike,I've been running Champion H12,but just recently purchased the Autolite 437's.Gonna see how well they do.Some have pretty good service from the Champion H12(no complaint's) and other's prefer the Autolites(gonna see).HTH,Jay 2NSC

Mine's been running Autolite 216's and seems to have pretty good combustion characteristics showing on the plug. (That's all assuming the past use is an indicator. Still working on getting her running for now. Been a settin' for several years.)

Thanks Les, Jay, RM. In the meantime I checked the archives, there are 1468 posts with spark plug in them. It seems for a hotter plug the champion H12 and the Autolite 437 are the most mentioned. I also checked the nseries site and the Champion was the most popular there. Del mentioned it is good to learn how to read plugs. My experience has been with higher horsepower higher reving and higher compression engines as well as racing 2 strokes. A ball of black fuzz is a lot different to what comes out of a race engine. Thanks again BC Mike C
