Got the motor lifted out of the boat using a block and tackle system supported with lines down from the mast ( the sky hook ) and swung it out to the side and in to a wheel barrow which had a flat tyre. Fixed that and with the help of three others lifted it in to the Isuzu pick up. I think I will bolt a piece of solid plywood to the top of the blade and slide it out and on to the ply. Then I can back it in to the garage and rest it on a work bench. No ignition pieces to play with, but the injectors cost about twice as much to service as a complete rewyring and ignition parts for the 9N. And the diesel requires huge compression to fire. It was getting low, that's why it's in the garage. BC Mike C

If your Sky hook had failed would it had put a big hole in the bottom of the boat? Tractors are handy for lots of stuff other than plowing snow and dirt! I just cleaned out the barn with mine today, starting to get faster at doing it. Mark H.

The short answer is yes. But I have two stainless steel wyres that go the the top of the mast on the aft end, each with about 800 lbs breaking strain. To that I added a line from the front of the mast as a safety. Also we tied the motor to the dock just in case, so at least it would not go to the bottom. I forgot to give honourable mention to my wife who helped with the operation, she guided the engine through the hatch and it only just went through. She also cleared the snow off the boat. There is a theory about boat gear. The floatation potential is inversely proportional to it's value. If it cost a lot it will sink. It's hard to believe the fine weather we are having, warm and sunny, maybe a little snow at night. You have more than us. I had to fit the tractor in to the story somehow, but it is still my best plan for lifting the engine. I do not have an engine lifter in the garage. The heavy gear for lifting is all outside and at the other end of the property. From one Westerner to another have a happy new year, and to all the others from the left coast and N owners everwhere.
