My wife got a message from her herding dog group. A well cared for cattle dog mix with a micro chip has been found in Eatoville WA. They were not able to trace the owner from the chip using the vet records. In the slim chance anyone in that area has lost a dog send a note. A question for Dell perhaps, is there a big difference between an Australina sheep dog and an OZ cattle dog? BC Mike C

Mike..... ...you write....."is there a big difference between an Australina sheep dog and an OZ cattle dog?".....I've never heard of eather as a dog breed. I have Australian Shepherds, a medium size bobtailed dog. There is an Australian Cattle Dog (ACD), aka Queensland Blue Heeler and sometimes called Dingos. These are a shorthair stout dog which are quite handy in cattle pens. There are about 12 commonally recognized "herding breeds".

Problem with doggy micro-chips is there about 3 different standards of codeing. I think micro-chips are good idea. Eatonville is just down the road from me, but I still wouldn't have any idea who would own the dog. I hope they find the owner..... ...Dell

Folks down the road have an Australian cattle dog that meets your description. They were wondering about bringing the dog to a herding clinic that my wife is having at our place in April. We will be using sheep. The barn cat we have has a tattoo and belongs to the Anderson family but the vets do not have accurate records and we do not know how to get in touch with them so we have had Bunkie the barn cat ( a Maine Coon cat ) for about five years. BTW got the boat motor together gonna try and put it back in tomorrow. BC Mike C
