I noticed that there are a lot of folks in here from VA, and I was wondering if you could help me? I am looking for a finish mower for my 8N. I live just outside Charlottesville in Scottsville, and am willing to travel a bit for a good deal on a finish mower. Thanks for any help. Oh yeah, I am looking for a tow behind deal...not a belly mower. Thanks again! Rob

Hey Rob,
I live up here in Somerset and am looking for one also. Haynes Outdoors in Orange has three different types. (haynesoutdoors.com) and tractor Supply in Culpeper and Charlottesville also carry them. I have not gone to look at the ones at tractor Supply , but will here soon. I think that they are side discharge. The ones at Haynes Outdoor are rear discharge.

Dubberly Tractor and Equipment, Chester Va.(804) 748-9815 usually has 3 or 4 brands in stock and will work with you on the price. Not far from the place in Petersburg that someone else mentioned.

Try Agri-Supply in Petersburg. Great place, about 2 miles from Rt 295/Rt 460 intersection. They carry Caroni mowers; I've got a six-footer that my 8N pulls just fine over 2+ acres of grass.

I second the nomination for Agri-Supply - many of their prices are great. I drive over an hour to get there.

Not sure how far "a bit" is for you but if you're willing to go all the way to Winston-Salem, NC you can go to the Lienbach's store/factory and get what you need at a good price. A rear dirt scoop is $75 less there than it is here in Lynchburg (any brand). Be a 3+ hr drive one way for you.

Rob in VA,

We have Leinbach's here in Winston-Salem.

They can get about anything you need and have a ton of stuff sitting in The yard.....They carry Sitrex Finish Mowers(I have one) and Woods which are two of your better brands.

Just to walk through their yard and look at the hundreds of implements would probably be worth the trip.

Their phone number is 336-924-6933.

Not sure what kind of farm stores you have up there.. but down in florida, King Kutter, and Howse are some of the lower priced brands... For that matter.. if you have TSC or similar.. sometimes they have a store brand if you are looking for light duty.

I got a KK at TSC and have worked it pretty good in tall weeds, 1" sapplings, briar, etc.. holding up good... going into second season of use.. no leaks/driveline problems etc.
