Loosing power at top end.
Checked air cleaner. Ok
Cheaked flow at carb elbow. Just short of a full-pipe flow.
Checked spark. Snappy blue.
Checked plugs and decided to adjusted the carb to more lean. Took it for a test.
Got 150 yards with the bush hog and stopped running just before I started to cut grass.
Would only run for a few seconds.
Disconnected the air cleaner. No help.
Checked the spark. Spark good.
Pulled dist and filed the points, set the gap and timing. No more adjustment left.
Started up, ran for 15 - 30 seconds and died. Restart for only a few seconds.
Replaced points and capacitor.
Ran for 15-30 secs and died. Restart for only a second or three.
Put an old coil on. No change.
Checked carb elbow screen. Clean.
Opened tank valve two turns. Drip, drip, drip.
Opened tank valve full open. Pretty good flow.
Got on and drove back to barn but it still doesn't have power.
Remove sediment bowl and screen is clear.
Drained tank but only about half came out before full-open didn't work anymore either.
Pulled the tank valve, dumping a gallon of gas on the ground, and no screen, pretty long tubes. on the valve body...
So I don't know yet. Been messing with it off and on for two days now. I'm going out to put the valve back on now. sheesh.

Souns like you may have restriction IN the carburetor. Take it apart, clean everything. Blow out with air compressor. Take small wire from wire brush and clean out all orfices including main nozzle which comes out with a 3/8" deepwell socket. Good N-ing.

That post should have "MHF on the valve body" but I enclosed them in < and > so the don't show up. Odd huh?

The brackets are for HTML code and normally won't show up on a web page.

Yeah. Too late I figured that out. Those brackets are on the valve body and I was being accurate without thinking puter stuff. I put those brackets and initials in that message twice.
