Read a post where guy said he had a 46 1/2" belt but would get a 45" next time so he had more adjustment. The B43 @ 45" I picked up was way long for mine. Turns out I have no adjustment with a 42 1/2" actual measurement belt. That's a B section. I'm having my guy get one that is about 41 1/2" and I'll see what that fits like. I could just go buy TSC's 8N belt for twice the money at $15 I guess. Wonder what tractor that fits.
Nah, never mind.

This is the belt that works best on my 1948 8N...

Goodyear HYT-PLUS #B43 (5L460)

Fills the pulleys and has plenty of adjustment...

Therein is the question. That B43 (45.8") was way long for my tractor. I don't know why they gave me 45.8" when I asked for a 45". 45" might have been alright but only because of the adjustment allowed by the 0.8", not much but it fits your tractor. Anyway, when the belt guy measured the outside of the old belt it was 42 1/2". There was 0 adjustment left on the tractor with the old belt, it must have started out life something like a 42.1" belt, can't remember for sure.
Well crap! I hope the new belt isn't too short. I wish I could see why my tractor is different. I must be missing something. I'll doublecheck the genny mount.

Perhaps you've had a pulley changed along the way.

Hi Rob,

I got my son to stop by Napa and get me a new belt for my 8N. He carried the old one and they matched it up pretty good. However, I believe it is slightly wider than a 1/2 inch. Maybe 5/8's. HTH. Rick H. Ga.
