I know that this is really O.T. but I need some advise on my 76 Dodge D-100 farm truck. I noticed that it was leaking gas from the tank, so I dropped the tank and there was a 8 inch stress crack on the top of the plastic tank, right where the strap comes over the top. I can't find a new tank at the auto stores (tried em' all) and I don't really want a junkyard tank, because frankly I already have a 25 year old tank. So my two choices are to try and patch the crack, or beg you guys to point me to a website that could help me out. If I patch, I am gonna try to use "magnum Steel" it seems like strong stuff, but I don't know how it will do on plastic. If you guys have any ideas on how to patch it in a better way, or can point me to a web site that has such a tank, I would really appreciate it!!! I need to get this truck running so I can tote gas cans back and forth for the 8N! (there, now it's not so much OT :)) I posted here because I knew one of you guys would have the solution to my dilema. Thanks in advance for your help, and advise!

My 78 Chev got a leak in the metal tank. Chev dealer price for a new tank, $400- NAPA $225- Truck wrecking yard $125- The wrecking yard had new tanks in stock, it's worth giving them a call. BC Mike C

At one time NAPA had a plastic tank repair kit. It was in the Balkamp line. Its a two part epoxy and came with some fiberglass mat. I have used it to repair gray water tanks (plastic) on motor homes and Atv gas tanks(plastic). It worked great.
