The lift on my 8N is all the way up and will not lower. I had my tailer on the drawbar and shut it down while working on the trailer, it drifted down over the course of a few hours. I started it up and raised the lift, it went all the way to the top and would not lower no matter where the quadrant was. Switching from draft to position control had no affect. After playing with it for awhile, the quadrant would only move in the top couple of inches. I'll pull the inspection cover this weekend but what should I be looking for? It's been sitting for two days with the trailer on it and has not dropped a bit. I don't think the lift is mechanicaly bound up because when the problem first happened, the lift would move up and down in the top few inches. What do you think Zane? is it time for your jig? Any help will be welcome.

This happened to me about the 1st cold snap over a month ago. By the time I got it into the garage and the inspection plate off, it started working fine, and I've had no further problems. Don't know for sure but I suspected Ice in hydraulic system. HTH Steve 8N 169302

It sorta sounds to me like a stuck control valve or a control valve that has come out of the yoke in the control valve rocker at the pump.

I would first remove the right side inspection plate and see if you can move the control valve manually. If you can't you may have to remove the oil so you can see what is going on at the control valve.

If you can move the control valve in and out but it still won't go down something may be loose or broken about the rocker shaft like the rocker itself or the ram rod could have fallen out of the rocker after the pin came out because of a loss of the cotterpin in the retainer pin for the ram rod.

The jig is for when the lift needs to be re-adjusted
