Well that one fellah a couple months ago was going to smash a gear on that Everett so he could get the dang thing off his tractor.
I've just remove one and I thought I would post some info on removing that sucker.
Near as I can tell a gear on the countershaft must be moved to the side to allow the tranny to be removed from your tractor. The countershaft has flats on both ends. If you remove 50 years of paint from the outside of the housing opposite the ends of the countershaft ends you will discover set screws through the housing.
Remove those set screws and discover that there is another set screw under those set screws that are the ones that REALLY hold the countershaft in place.
Pull the countershaft and move the large gear on the countershaft to the side to allow the Everett to slide off the N's main shaft.
I pried the Everett back enough to slide a nut between the two trannys. I got that nut there right on the end of the countershaft and then used a couple of mounting bolts to tighten the trannys back together forcing the shaft out of the back of the Everett housing. Then I did it again with a second nut and I could finally get a good hold on that shaft and work it back and forth and finally pull it to get that gear to the side.
Then things started working for me and I was pretty happy with it all.
That tranny is REALLY heavy. You may want to set that countershaft and it's gears out of the tranny until you get it set on the ground.

Just wondering, but why were you removing the tranny? Was it damaged? Or are you just removing it as you don't use it?

Going to sell it to pay for fenders and pto shaft and other stuff to restore the tractor. All that stuff was removed to mount the trencher. It never was used as a 3pt farm tractor. I sold the front dozer blade so the tractor is paid for and then some.
Hardly any wear on the Everett guts but the housing has been brazed around some of the back mounting flange. I figure someone tried to pull an immovable object while in Everett granny gear.
Tranny works great. No wear at all on nearly all the gears. Not even shiney. The main drive out has some shiney on it but that's about it. The bearings are pristine. The shafts show no wear.
Need to cut some gaskets and one cover bolt was broke off. I got that out pretty easy. It'll be on ebay in a few days or a week. Should cover the restoration. So long as there are no suprises left.
I haven't opened the engine or the rear end but it looks good and feels good. Nothing it broke and the drive train all seems to work right so I think I've had all the surprises I'm going to get.
If I win powerball tonight I might keep the tranny.
