I was raised in a little town called Zebulon Ga. We lived a stones throw from the courthouse square. I got married when I was 20 and purchased 13.19 acres that same year (bought the 8N that same year also). Since I have lived in the country I have had chickens, pigs, cows, turkeys, gunnies, ducks, geese, goats and a couple of horses. The first horse was a Christmas present for our oldest son. After the first time my son was thrown off he never got on him again. He was suddenly my horse. The horse was, supposedly, already trained but I had to learn to be a horse trainer in a hurry. Ask ten different horse trainers the same question and you will get ten different answers. The second horse was a colt and I trained him from scratch. He turned out to be the better of the two. I actually found out what it was like to have a close bond between horse and rider. Not only did he respond to the reigns well but also he read my body language well and would respond to the slightest gesture of my voice. I really enjoyed the horses but I didn’t have the time to dedicate to them. Of all the farm animals we have had I like the goats the best. They are low maintenance and keep the pasture cleaned off real well (as high as they can stand on their back legs). I don’t have the horses any more and don’t particularly want another one but I did enjoy them. Horses are great animals if you have a lot of time to spend with them. Otherwise, they (horses) will become rude and unruly. (Sorry for the long post) Rick H. Ga.
