I tried to post this a n hour ago but I think I hit the wrong button after submission. Anyway, posted some time ago about my starter problem. I put in a new starter (1946 2N), engine started and ran. Smoked a little more than it did before. Some history: When I couldn't start the engine(for weeks now) I put in 2 spoonfuls of MMO in all dylinders and in the valve guide area. I hoped that it would loosen up the rings and valve assembly to reduce the oil burning(as some have suggested). Well after running for only a few seconds it smoked even more. Then I opened the throttle more and it poured out huge clouds of smoke. Then I noticed oil dripping out from under the tailpipe, at the junction of muffler and exhaust manifold and even worse at the top of the oil filter container(I think I didn't tighten the bolt after cleaning out the filter element). What happened? What caused all this oil to start flowing out? Also there was vapor comong out of the breather cap. Where does the engine oil pressure enter the oil filter and exit?. My gauge does not register with engine running thinking that perhaps one end of the oil filter tubing may be completely clogged and blocks any pressure from getting to the gauge. Sorry for the long post. I've gotten good help here I think can count on you. Thanks.

Bigwheels a rollin'-

Don'tcha run that tractor any more until you do a compression check (dry then wet). Sounds like she's a pretty tired engine and losing rings and bearings. comp check only helps diagnose rings and valves, but if your readings are what I think they're gonna be, you'll be ovehauling her and lookin' at all bearings anyway.

MMO is NOT gonna help. You've already been down that route and things are getting worse. Your tractor's talking to you. Listen.

Most likely loosing the oil pressure at the worn out rod bearings, and crankshaft. Marvel mystery oil will help free up the rings. Take the plugs out and pour in, let it set overnight. I think you will need a major overhaul and rebuilt crankshaft.
