There is no off season here. 9N is snowblower and grader more often than it pulls a mower, cultivator or disc. She never gets a rest more than a couple of days.

Spread fertalizer / seed with broadcast spreader.. box blade the compost pile... drag the pasture.. drive the fenceline and pasture looking for holes or loose fence boards ( this is year in and out.. not off season )

No off season when you have horses. This weekend we towed a trailer full of loose hay from storage to the barn where we feed the horses and used a dirt scoop to carry manure from their stalls. All through a muddy corral that would have swallowed my 4x4 Ranger pickup.

...just used it yesterday (1st time in a while) to regrade my driveway in prep for paving. Will use it to trench for drains. Made a muddy (but fairly level) mess. fun.

Bert, It is always offseason for our N's now, other than hauling a 3 point carrier around to move that occasional brush pile, and a couple of plow days in the spring, they spend their time at shows, hooking to sleds, and just sitting around lookin' pretty!

I must admit to a bit of tractor envy here. My tractor must hibernate for the winter. We own a 20 peice of vacant land that has no building whatsoever on it. It is sitting under a tarp under the pines waiting, more patiently than I, for spring. Cheers, Erik

I must admit that my 49 8N doesn’t get as much use as it did before I bought another tractor but it sure is nice to look at sitting under my shed beside her big sister. And, the memories are great. It is also nice to know that the 8N is available and ready to work at all times. I crank the engine and let it run until it gets to normal operating temperature a few times a month. Best regards. Backhoe? Interesting. My neighbor had some kind of backhoe on his 9-2/N, and he cracked his axels using it, then made a big undercarrage to take the strain of the backhoe.

Any issues w/your N on that?

None whatsoever I been using this outfit for 12 years now. All I did was make a bracket to reinforce the top link bracket on tractor. Everbody says it wont work but I proved them wrong. Someday I will post some pictures.

That'd be great! You can add them to the photo links on this site to the left as resource. Once in a while someone asks if an N can handle a backhoe.

In this off season my 2N is resting in my driveway waiting for spring so I can get back to working on it again. If and when I get it running well and get a bush hog, it will work in the summer but have the winters off. You see, I live in Queens, NYC and my land and trailer are up in Herkimer NY. I don't dare go up there in winter, just too much snow for a city guy like me to handle.

In winter 8N is used to blade snow, haul large bales of hay to horses, move corn for stove, drive out to check horses, etc.

The 50 frontmount has the blade; ready for snow. The 51 w/ the Freeman loader is also ready for snow, and will have it's own blade in a week or so. I haul wood in the bucket from the wood shed to the house. The 50 sidemount is ready to fill in when one of the other 2 have problems (like my locked starter on the 50 frontmount yesterday). Each tractor gets run 30 minutes every third weekend.

No off season? My 2n and 9n sit in the barn most of the winter.Ounce in a while I'll use one to move a wagon or blade the drive. But, mostly I use my 861 to move big bales or push/pile snow when its to deep for my truck to push. I guess I'm just getting lazy in my old age prefering the warmth of the house and truck cab, instead of putting on the chains and heat houser. But, about March I'll get them tuned up for mowing raking hay plowing and disking the garden etc. Nope no off season just hybernation. John

My 8n never gets a break, it's always doing something. This past week it has brought wood to the house w/ the carry-all, brought 3 loads to the pile, brought a load of corn up to be shelled, some other stuff. It is the most used tractor on the farm, some say that it is my left nut. I agree with everyone else there is no such thing as offseason.
