Orschelns sells a product called "Bright Geeen in 90 wt or 140 wt" The folder I have says it is Straight mineral oil with addition of anti-foam additives to prevent build up. They also sell Ford 90W which I think is a GL 3 or a GL5. Would the Bright Green be a good product for warm weather? Right now I am using their Trans-Hydraulic Oil which covers about 40-50 different applications including ford 134. I have read many of the oil posts including llmas' report. ( Very well written) I do like the lighter oil as my lift works great even in cold weather. With a very heavy load I leak down in 3-4 minutes. With a lesser load it will hold up longer. Do you guys think I should put in the newer Piston with the better seals. It doesn't bother me that much on the old 2-n. Sorry about bringing up OIL again. I know we have beat it to death. Does anyone sell the same product as the 134 oil or do I have to buy it from FORD? I want to take care of the old Girl. Because of this forum, I now have the Zane Thang, the new starter drive, a fun projects voltage regulator, and am going to get an ORC.(Dell recommends them I know)

Holding up 3-4 minutes under load isn't super bad... That lets you come to a stop if you are roading your tractor, and during the light.. you don't have to shift into neutral to keep the lift up.. though most of us use limit chains. Sure a new piston/oring might bump that up to hours.. just depends on how much work you want to do. Also.. if that is with the thinner 134 oil.. then I would imagine going to a 90wt oil would at least double or possibly tripple that 'hang-time'. I personally like the 90wt gl-1 oil tractor supply sells, that specifies ford 1939-1952. And might even try the wallmart 90wt gl-1 oil too. I usee tsc's universal transdraulic fluid ( 134 generic ) in my NAA tranny and hyds.. and a gear oil for the rear end..

Your choice on the oil..

For 30 bucks you can try 5 gallons of the heavier oil.. if it doesn't produce results you like.. ~then~ rebuild the piston/cylinder... and switch back to an oil you like. The oil changes won't hurt.. and will help flush the system anyway... so it's a win-win situation for the tractor..
