I need some more help from the experts on the correct position of the stabilizer bar bracket, attached to the fender bolts, mounted under the rear axle.

I'm questioning this because the sway bars on my "New" 8N are bowed and bent, but, the ends of the sway bars line up with the ends of the lift arms where they attach to the shredder. I'm thinking the sway bars are too long or the brackets are in the wrong position. For safety reasons, I realize that the sway bars need to be straight to work properly. How should the brackets be postioned? Depending on which side of the tractor it's on, and which end faces forward, you could locate the stabilizer bar attachment point on the front, or back of the axle, and have it either on the tire side or differential side. And you can mount the sway bar on either the tractor side or tire side of the bracket.

Currently, mine has the attachment point on the front of the axle, towards the differential and the arms are mounted on the tractor side of the bracket.

Locating the attach point on the front of the axle appears correct, since it lines up with the Lift arm attachment point.

If anyone gets a chance, please look at your tractor and let me know how yours is set up.

Thanks in advance for your help.

PUT THE BRACKET OFF THE LEFT ON THE RIGHT AND THE ON OFF THE RIGHT ON THE LEFT. THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE DISTANCE YOU NEED. I KNOW I PUT INE ON WORNG WHEN I PAINTED MINE. THE MOUNTING PIN SHOULD BE TO THE FRONT OF THE TRACTOR, NOT TO THE REAR.

I was wondering if they were on the wrong side. If I swap them, the distance should increase.
I'll check it out. Do you know if there is a standard length for the sway bars? I read somewhere in the archives that they should be 31 - 9/16" O.C. I haven't measured mine yet. I guess it all depends on the lenght of the lift arms and whether they are original or not.

Sounds like yours are attached correct. The brackets on the axle should be slotted.Loosen the fender bolts, attach the stablizer bars to both the brackets and then to the implement.Pick it up and bump it a couple times to settle the position of the bars then tighten everything up.The bars should be straight before attaching to anything. Also depending on the type brackets you have, the pins are adjustable. Hope this helps. don

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the brackets are not all the same.
The mounting bolts that hold my fenders on are loose and the fenders and brackets wobble. I'll have to get under there this evening and see if anythings adjustable. Thanks again.
