I have my Grandfather's 1952 8N with a rear blade and a Davis 101-a frontend loader, that a guy wants to buy. I have know idea what it is worth. It is probably in average condition. I have done a complete tune-up, carb. overhaul, rebuilt internal hydraulcs, new hydr. hoses to loader. It is in western Colorado. Can anyone give any advice.

he didnt ask if he should keep it or not he asked what it is worth,, come on guys not everyone wants to keep a tractor or has the need for a tractor,,, depending on tires and overall condition,, given the work you did to it,, which should reduce the amount someone may have to put into it,, I would say a low of 2200.. and a high of 3800,, alot of it depends on area and use of the tractor,, and if it is an extra tractor need to clean stalls or what ever,,, start at 4000 go from there--3500 if all is done like said.good luck..it is very hard to give a price on a tractor because so much is not given, plus a lot of it depends on how much the person buying it wants it..pat

Just sold my Ferguson TO-30 w/ WM-4 Loader, genuine Fergy 5' blade and Wagner boom pole for $3500 here in Northern Nevada. All that sweat and tears refurbishing her for a short stack of cash. Oh well, now have more money to spend on the 2N. All in all I wish I hadnt sold the tractor. Something to think about. Dave

First off if you sell it you will probably kick your self in the butt in the years to come. I have my grandfathers 1935 JD-B if I sold it the price would be at least $100,000.00 Now with that said in my area an 8N ford in good shape will sell for $2000-$3500 with out a loader and with a loader $3000-$4500

Our family banker told me once that it is a he** of lot easier to come off the asking price than it is to go up when negotiating the sale of an item. Since the tractor is somewhat of a family heirloom I would start high and decide how much to come down. Most buyers like to haggle and some are only interested in getting you to come off your asking price and then still not buy (tire kickers and well wishers).

In my area a 52 8N with a loader in average condition may be advertised for $2500 to $3000; maybe less if it needs tires. HTH. Rick H. Ga.

Grandfather's tractor? Priceless!

Look around in your area to see what they are going for. Up my way it seems $2800 is a common price for a working 8N in fair condition. Sometimes they go for less but they usually don't go for more.

Some would say that the bucket adds value. My thinking is that buckets are really hard on the front ends of old tractors and so the bucket actually REDUCES the value ... perhaps that's just me.

I located my dad's first tractor, a 39' 9N, a few years back, but i cant get the owner to sell it to me. Believe me, when i do get it, no one will ever be able to buy it, it was the first tractor, that i ever drove also.

Troy,

Maybe he won't sell because he needs a tractor? Get something (better?) to trade then talk to him again, and again, and.....

this tractor just sits in a garage accross town, and has'nt been ran in probably 15 years, and the people still wont sell it, i have'nt pressed the issue for a while, this post has got me thinking more about it, so maybe i'll go make another offer.

Good idea! A tractor is worth more to a guy who needs one than cash is. Explane why you want it and make a trade. He might just go for it especialy if it is a nicer one you are trading him for it. Mark H.

My biggest concern on this subject is some guy coming to the gate to tell ME one of the five N's I have used to be in HIS family and ending up one less tractor. 'Cause I guarantee he'd get it even if I was only reasonably sure it was. I like my tractors but I like people even more. (Didn't used to be that way either)
