i just put the cam and the adjustable lifters in the 9n. it has new valve seats. the problem is, when i pry the spring down to insert the clip, i cant even see the groove where the clip should go. the closest place i can put it is where the valve spring rests against the guide. i know this isnt the right spot. the valve seats are pressed in all the way and the valves are tight to the seat. any ideas or suggestions? completely baffled

You should have the cylinder you are inserting the valve assemnblies on top dead center of the compression stroke to allow room for the guide to come down far enough to insert the horse shoe keeper.

Reach in the open port of the valve where the maniold should be and using a big screw driver that has been cut down a little on one side just behind the flat and pry the guide on down until the groove is visible. You gotta grind a little off that one side of the screw driver so the guide will go down far eiough past the bottom of the valve port to see the deeper groove is visible.

You should not have to use any force to install the keepers. Make sure that the guide goes back up and seats the keepers.
