One of my rear axle bolts (the one that the lug nut goes on and the one that cost $12.95 at New Holland) is stripped beyond rethreading, and I want to replace it. The problem is that I can't get the old one out. I have pounded the crap out of it but it won't budge. Any suggestions? My tools are limited. I don't have a torch and it seems impossilbe to drill it out. I ran the tractor all last summer without the one lug nut. Do I really need that last lug nut? Thanks.

Use a angle 4" cut off grinder and cut the stud down, grind it flush and us a big punch and hammer to get it out. The rim will stay on with 5 lug nuts no problem if you don't do over 65 mph in it. Mark H.

Bob..... ...sounds like you've "swedged" yer rearaxle bolt. Thats a technical term meaning that by pounding on it, you've swollen it like a rivet. And NO, you don't need all 6 rear-axle bolts, nice to have but not necessary..... ...Dell
