I think this one has been done before, but just for giggles, how many of you guys have given your "N" a name? Care to share them? My wife says I need to name the old gal, but we can't agree on anything!-----Rob

Due to the numerous dings and dents all over the sheetmetal of my 850, his name is "Lumpy".

Puddle Jumper. The 8N earned that name early on being used with a 4 ft. drag digger to work up wet spots in the spring so they would dry out.

My 1950 8N is named Lulubelle, after the M3 tank in the Humphrey Bogart movie "Sahara". There was something in Bogie's voice when he said that name that got to me. Since then I wanted to name something Lulubelle. Good thing I never had any kids.

My first 8N a '52 was named Ol' Betsy, which her current owner still calls her. When I got my '47 8N that I have now I named him Butch because he was so butch, powerful, compared to the little 9N I had that probably could have used a rebuild. Never did name the 9N for some reason. When I got my Jubilee I decided to name it Sundance to go with the 8N named Butch. So now I have Butch and Sundance.

Well for some reason my tractor struck me as being a Maggie. Looks like at least two of us have chosen that one.

She's a real sweetheart.

Small, kinda gets under your skin, and can be a real source of irritation.

Others have heard this before but my 1947 2N has always been called "Johnny" by my family (well, that or "the old ford"). I remember it being called that as a child. When I got to be about 5 or so years old, I reasoned to myself that Johnny was an appropriate name because:

We live in the south (NC)
confederate soldiers were sometimes called "Johnny Rebs"
the tractor is (more or less) confederate gray.

Johnny it is! Oh yeah, I too, used to walk down to the shed and pat the tractor on the hood and talk softly to it. Old tractors are great, just like most old tractor people.

Well, presently I have four 8N's (Renegade, Rerun, Rectum and Rusty), two 2N's (Rebel, and Reliable), and two 9N's (RJ, my first and favorite N, and Repeat). RJ introduced me to the world of N's and to all of you great people who have been so helpful and patient with me as I learned to overhaul engines, replace or adjust brakes, tear into the hydraulics, etc. Thanks to each and every member for the enjoyment and relaxation you have taught me. God bless you all.

The NAA is Hercules, the 8N was "the beast". The 8N had a loader on it, and the old loaders were ugly. Anyhow, the 8N is gone, I only have room, and activity, for one.

Mine is Myrtle. It was my wife's nick-name given to her by her father. When I told her it was the N's name she sure laughed.

Well, we debated and talkek about it. And it finally dawned on me. Everytime I walk by her on the way to the barn, I say 'Hi Sweetheart" and give her a pat.

So, mine is Sweetheart.
