When I bought her recently, I replaced the points, condenser,& coil, and put fresh gas & oil in her of course. She starts and runs smoothly for 30-45 seconds and dies out. I figure the float & needle valve in the carb need my attention. What's your take? Thanks, Lance.

All the sugestions below are valid for you trouble but lets go back a step and ask:
WHY did you change all the ignition parts?
WHEN did the problem really begin, before or after the parts were changed?
IF the trouble is parts related go back and change them one by one until you find the culprit.
If not related clean the filters. I'd say one by one here also except, fuel line blockage is caused by dirt in the fuel. Start at the top and do them all.
My point is don't just throw parts. Isolate the trouble and you'll recognize the symtoms. You'll have fun learning and the machine will be yours not the part store's.

I replaced the points because they were burned and pitted and the tractor wouldnt run. I replaced the condenser because they came as a pair. I assumed you would understand without explaining that. Where I come from, you dont fix things that aint broke!

I know you said you replaced the points and condencer, BUT, the symptom of running one minute or less is indicative of a bad condenser.

Sometimes they are bad out of the box. If you have the old one, put it back in and try it, if not you might want to get another (if it don't help save it for later).

Three other places to check...Also, coils have been known to be bad right out of the box!!

I would say your main jet is clogged, can you keep it somewhat running with full choke?
