I just sprung for the bucks and put one of the replica Dowden footfeeds on my N. I know money is always tight when it comes to tractors but if any of you have a few extra tractor bucks and want something well worth the cost buy one. Mine was a little irritating to install but worth it when I climbed on and took off.

John, I don't think it will do that. It would do the opposite, that is set the hand throttle where you want it then speed it up with the footfeed and then back to the position you set with the hand throttle. I don't think it would slow down though w/o moving the hand throttle.

I have looked at these in the past and thought I would like one only I want to have it work as a de-cellerator. Like found on dozers, set the throttle where you want it for mowing, plowing or whatever and use the pedal it to slow when in corners, tight spots or end of furrow.

Eric, the hand throttle and footfeed are completely independent of each other. You can use either one you want and I can see uses for both. I emailed both Red Rock and John Smith for info. But I bought from John because he got back to me very fast and answered all my questions even though I had emailed him fairly late at night. He sells the same one Red Rock makes. John and Red Rock are both class acts.

Lot more comfortable operating the tractor in close conditions. Easier to speed up slow down and back up. Probably wouldn't be used if you were plowing a long stretch, etc, in which case the hand throttle would be more comfortable. It was a good idea when Dowden came up with it and still is in my opinion

While I"m sure it"s a nifty idea, I"m not seeing it... Maybe I"ve just learned to think ahead of the game... Unless I"m really missing something...

Eric, I don't know if you can get one for a 2N/9N but if you can, put it on your list of things to get. It allows you to operate the throttle independent of the hand throttle, just like a gas pedal. At the same time you can operate the hand throttle independent of the foot feed. Here's a picture of mine installed on the footboard with all the various linkage. Well worth the money. Check out John Smith's site for these under accessories.

Thanks for the link. hvw, they do make one for the 2N/9N. They also make one that might fit my 881D. I've emailed them to ask and make sure it will work. I don't know the big difference between the 800 and 801 series other than the years of mfg. Better safe than sorry. It's an item I'm sure to get for both tractors. Mostly a convenience for the wife and kids but a nice accessory. The ad says you can operate both the hand throttle and foot throttle independently. Is it truely independent? I guess what I'm imagining is: If the hand throttle is at idle you will have full throttle range with your foot. If the hand throttle is at 75% then depressing the foot throttle will take it up from there but not down. Am I on the right track? Thanks again, Eric
