Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the 'normal' amount of space between the release bearing and the fingers on the pressure plate? This would be the clearance when the relaese bearing is pulled all the way towards the rear of the traftor by the two return springs and to clutch linkage is disconnected. My 8n has about .825" between the two - you have to move the release bearing far off of its stop before it ever even begins to depress the fingers. This means I am stretching the two return springs more than I should, and it also throws off the linkage geometry. I am able to measure all this by removing the steering box and looking through the hole in the top of the trans case. I know I can adjust my threaded rod to obtain a working clutch, but it seems odd that they would have designed the tractor with this much free space. If it means anything, I am able to wiggle the fingers of the pressure plate by about 3/16" - I am accustomed to them not moving at all on automotive applications. The pressure plate is original 1952, the disc is new, and the clutch shaft bushings are also new. Thanks.
