I am planning to buy a 1951 or 1952 8n does the 3 point hitch have down pressure ? The setup on the tractor works well but does have a slow leak down.

Thanks Bob

Bob..... ...the N's 3-point hydraulic's is power up, gravity down.

One of the basic schemes of the Ferguson 3-point system is to transfer plowing draft (friction) thru the upper 3-point link into DOWN PRESSURE on the rear tires for MORE TRACTION. Iff'n ya had down pressure, you'd be the same as LIFTING the rear tire outta the ground for LESS traction and spinning tires..... ....Dell

Bob,

The N-series tractors have NO down pressure available on the 3-point hitch. It would be nice to have from time to time, but you normally get used to it and learn to live with it. In order to get a tractor with down pressure, you'll have to spend a lot more money for a more modern machine. Sorry.

Ron
