Got a 52 8N with a Sherman h/l and a 12 v conversion. It has been a dream...no problems. Just used it to pick up bales weekend before last and was goin' to do some hoggin' last weekend but the sucker wouldn't start. It wouldn't do anything. First,I thought maybe I had left the key on and the battery was completely down, so I slapped the charger on and left if for a couple of hours...nothin'. I thought maybe it was the starter button went bad so I tried jumpin' across the selenoid...nothin'. Where do I look now? What could have happened to it just sitting there? I know somebody will give me a place to start lookin'.

Thanks in advance,
John

Yep, took a charge but wouldn't even click when you hit the switch. Dell nailed it again! I just cleaned off the terminals and tightened em up and away we went! Dell, you da man!

John..... ...remember the Mantra: "Keep'em clean, bright, and tight".

I'd start by taking the battery connections off and clean the battery posts and battery clamps with that metal scrubber brush. Make certain that the clamps are really tight on the battery posts.

Caution: they've changed the battery posts to slightly smaller diameter and while you can tighten the heck outta the battery clamp bolt, it won't squeeze down on the smaller battery post. You haffta remove some clamp metal so you can tighten down on the post. Understand?

Then there always the remote possiblity that the battery cables are corroded INSIDE the molded battery clamp.

Don't forget, your 3-terminal starter solenoid is internally hot and you actuated it by GROUNDING the BIG starter button by the trannys shifter. You can effectively test by grounding the little terminal witha screwdriver blade as long a you have yer tranny in NEUTRAL. And iff'n ya still don't trust yer solenoid, I use a pair of pliers handles to jump around the BIG solenoid terminals. (in NEUTRAL of course)..... ....Dell
